About

Growing up in the kitchen of her dad’s restaurant in St. Louis, Mo., Katie lived a childhood steeped in marinara sauce. She has an annoying habit of saying she doesn’t like food that she’s actually never eaten, like Key Lime pie and split pea soup. She recently tried her first raw oyster—mostly to justify using an image of it in this blog’s header.

Buying into his grandfather’s wisdom that “a good cook never goes hungry,” Frank has spent a lifetime following the example of the many great cooks in his family. Frank says he is militantly opposed to mixing fish and dairy, but he frequently, hypocritically, covers clam sauce with parmesan and loves a tuna melt. He is wary of bloggers and their work, but he also can’t resist the attention of having his food photographed.

Frank and Katie are collaborating on this project because they have too much fun cooking together to keep it to themselves. Frank has to do a lot of the work, mostly because Katie is “afraid of meat with bones still in it.” (Her mother has a funny story about this; ask her some time.) She is, however, a blog whiz and a menu and entertaining visionary.
